NHS North East and Yorkshire Leadership Academy - Coaching and Mentoring Hub
Coaching and Mentoring
Coaching and mentoring are powerful tools for both personal and professional growth. They help individuals reach their career goals, develop leadership skills, navigate change, and build resilience. At the NHS North East and Yorkshire Leadership Academy, we believe every NHS staff member should have access to high-quality coaching and mentoring resources, guidance, and development opportunities – as outlined in the NHS Long Term Plan.
Coaching
Coaching is a powerful way to develop an individual’s skills and capabilities, helping to drive organisational success. Through a tailored one-to-one relationship, coaching is widely recognised as one of the most impactful development opportunities available to senior leaders in the NHS.
Who can access coaching?
Access as a coach: The Hub requires coaches to hold an ILM Level 5 professional coaching qualification or an equivalent qualification. Please note that coaches are not permitted to charge for their services; all coaching must be provided free of charge. Registered coaches on the Hub will be provided with access to regular CPD and access to coaching supervision.
Access as a coachee: The Hub is open to all employees working in NHS organisations across the North East and Yorkshire Region.
Mentoring
Mentoring helps develop leaders by sharing knowledge, skills, and experience, and is open to a diverse range of employees. Cross-organisational, cross-professional, and peer mentoring relationships are actively encouraged to broaden perspectives and inspire new ways of thinking. Working with a mentor can increase self-awareness, highlight individual strengths, and identify opportunities to grow and enhance existing skills.
Who can access mentoring?
Access as a mentor: A formal mentoring qualification is not required to join the Hub; however, you will need to review a selection of mentoring resources provided by the North East and Yorkshire Academy and confirm that you have done so before being added to the mentor register. Registered mentors on the Hub will be provided with access to CPD.
Access as a mentee: The Hub is open to all employees working in NHS organisations across the North East and Yorkshire Region.
